Encrypted File Engine

Encrypted File Engine: AES-256 File Encryption with Cellular Automata Entropy

Encrypt any file in seconds, no keys to manage. Drop in a PDF, video, spreadsheet, or anything else — AKRUM encrypts it instantly in your browser with AES-256-GCM, using keys drawn from our Cellular Automata entropy engine mixed with your device's secure random source.

Highlights

Built for serious workloads.

Client-side AES-GCM

Your bytes never leave the browser unencrypted.

One-click share

Generate a package + key in seconds.

Entropy visualizer

Watch Rule 30 chaos generate your keys.

What's new

Post-quantum-ready encryption, built on Cellular Automata entropy

Recent enhancements make AKRUM encryption both quantum-forward and future-proof — without changing how you use it.

Hybrid post-quantum encryption

Beta

Optional hybrid ML-KEM (Kyber) + X25519 key exchange for recipient-key sharing, so ciphertexts survive both classical and quantum attackers.

Cellular Automata entropy in every key

AES-256 keys are derived through HKDF-SHA-256 from your device's secure random source mixed with AKRUM's Cellular Automata entropy engine. The OS CSPRNG is always the security floor.

Cryptographic agility

Versioned crypto suites let AKRUM roll new algorithms forward without customers redesigning their apps — encrypt today, decrypt tomorrow on whatever suite is current.

Zero-knowledge, client-side

Files are encrypted in your browser with AES-256-GCM before upload. Plaintext bytes never touch our servers.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What encryption does AKRUM use to protect my files?

+

Files are protected with AES-256-GCM, an authenticated cipher trusted for government and financial workloads. The keys themselves are generated from AKRUM's Cellular Automata entropy engine, not a standard pseudo-random generator.

Where does encryption happen — does my file ever leave my device unencrypted?

+

All encryption runs client-side in your browser. Your bytes are sealed with AES-GCM before anything is sent to AKRUM, so the original plaintext never leaves your device. We only ever see opaque ciphertext.

Can AKRUM or anyone on your servers read my files?

+

No. Encryption happens in your browser and the keys you generate are not retained server-side by default. Without the key you control, the stored package is unreadable ciphertext to AKRUM, our staff, and any attacker who reaches our storage.

Is the encryption post-quantum secure?

+

AES-256-GCM is already considered quantum-safe against currently understood attacks (Grover's algorithm only halves its effective strength, leaving 128-bit security). For registered-user sharing, AKRUM also offers hybrid post-quantum key exchange combining ML-KEM-768 (Kyber) with X25519 — this hybrid path is currently in beta. The Cellular Automata entropy engine feeds standard HKDF-SHA-256 key derivation mixed with the OS CSPRNG.

What file types and sizes can I encrypt?

+

Any file — PDF, MP4, CSV, DOCX, ZIP, images, archives. Free covers files up to 500 MB, Startup 1 GB, Growth 3 GB, and Enterprise 25 GB+ or more on configurable plans. Format does not matter, only size.

Is file encryption free to use?

+

Yes. The Free tier includes 100 encryptions and 100 decryptions per month using rule 30 only, with one-click sharing, the entropy visualizer, and direct in-app downloads. Paid tiers raise limits and unlock the full chaotic rule set.
